Work, Weather, Wings—Repeat

I've gotten in a funk and out of whatever semblance of a routine I did have. Going from working a set schedule of days to throwing nights in there really does a number on the body. It’s got me all out of sorts.

The good news is, I’m going back to a more manageable, easier set schedule soon, which should help me feel a bit more grounded again. My body and brain are both over the chaos.

On top of that, I’ve got a sinus infection I’ve been on meds for, so I’ve been trying to take it easy. I canceled any workout classes I had this morning just to take the extra strain off—feels like pushing through would only make it worse.

Still wanted to get out a little, so I took Lena for a walk to the bank, and then to her favorite spot, Spkrbox. She got her daily treat and a pup cup, so she’s a happy camper. Honestly, her little tail wags always help boost my mood a bit. And people being excited to pet her seriously makes my day—like, nothing hits quite like strangers lighting up when they see her.

Fingers crossed the weather keeps trending up, because I’m halfway through my meds and I seriously can’t handle another drastic change right now. I just want to feel human again.

Also, the Red Wings play tonight… and man, they’ve been playing with my emotions bad the last two seasons. They went the first 25 years of my life making the playoffs, and then just… nothing. I got used to not expecting anything. No hopes, no expectations, no heartbreak. And then last season, and again this one, here we are. Right on the edge. Just a few points out. I almost wish they’d just lose the rest of their games so I could stop hoping. It’s brutal.

And now I’m getting ready for work, kinda bummed I won’t be at the game in person to watch them one more time this season. Still, I’m excited to see how hard they come out—though I really wish they would've played like they have the last two games, through all of March. That stretch might’ve been the difference.

I really hope we get at least one more season with Kane. The way he’s been playing since that hip resurfacing surgery? Unreal. Most guys don’t even come back from that, let alone look half as good as he does. He’s not in his prime anymore, sure—but he’s still making plays that most guys would kill to pull off at their best.

And for everyone who’s given me crap for being a Kane fan now—let’s be clear. It was never that I didn’t like him. I didn’t like that he wasn’t on our team. That was the issue.

So yeah, I’d love to see him and Cat get one more run together. Let Kane go for one last real playoff push and see what this team’s actually made of. He came here because of Cat, and you can still see that spark between them. Starting next season with McLellan from the jump—rather than switching things up halfway through—could totally shift the vibe. Honestly, it makes you wonder where we’d be if they had just fired Lalonde and brought in McLellan from the get.

Anywho, off to work. LGRW! 🐙🔥
